This Week On Treasure Island Oldies

This week on Treasure Island Oldies
June 20th, 2010 to June 26th, 2010

What a tremendous salute we had for the Dads all around the world on our Annual Father's Day Special. Thanks very much for your comments on this year's special I've received already. Always great to hear from you. It was nice to hear some very special songs that spanned 40 years, from the 50s to the 80s. I also enjoyed playing Sade's new song Baby Father for you. I hoped you enjoyed that great song from her new album Soldier Of Love. Every now and then I hear a new song by an artist that fits into our music, and I enjoy playing it. I really like giving you a taste of some good new music on the show; although for the most part, they tend to be heritage artists.

Be sure to join us for our next two consecutive specials on the show. Next Sunday, June 27th it's our 14th Annual Summer Beach Party. We'll be "live" on the beach of Treasure Island Oldies for four hours of sizzling summer hits for you to enjoy. Be sure to bring your bathing suit, towel and sunscreen. The rest is on us. Just watch out for the seagulls; and if you look up, close your mouth. LOL

The following week, Sunday, July 4th, it's our Annual Music of Canada Special. You'll be amazed with just how many hit artists, songwriters, performers and producers are from Canada and have made an impact across Canada, the United States, and all around the world. As always, if you have a favourite song by a Canadian artist or group, let me know. Call our 24/7 Listener Line at 206-203-4678 and record your request message. You can also Click the Requests button on any page of the website.

A big hello and welcome to all the listeners and staff at Pennine 235 Gold in Glasgow, Scotland. They are the latest station to join the Treasure Island Oldies Broadcast Partners Network. Enjoy the show! I'm pleased and proud to have our show air on stations in British Columbia and Ontario in Canada; Gothenberg, Sweden; London, England; Texas, Oregon, Washington State, New Jersey, Georgia, Massachusetts, Indiana, and Florida in the United States, and now Glasgow, Scotland. Thank you very much!

Glad to hear that Roy Geldart in Campbell River, British Columbia, a regular listener to the show as well as in the Chat Room, is on the mend after hip replacement surgery. I couldn't resist; I just had to play Hippy Hippy Shake by the Swinging Blue Jeans for Roy. Keep dancing Roy, it will be good therapy for your recovery.

The Treasure Island Oldies Blog is playing Paul Peterson, one of the stars on TV's Donna Reed Show, along with Shelley Fabares (Johnny Angel). In keeping with our Father's Day theme, our Song of the Week is My Dad by Paul Peterson. Enjoy this Father's Day song classic.

I mentioned earlier about our 14th Annual Summer Beach Party taking place on the show next week. Fittingly, Voice Your Choice spotlights The Beach Boys with two of their many summertime hits for your votes: Surfin' Safari and All Summer Long. Come to the Voice Your Choice page and cast your vote. We'll play the winning song in the 3rd hour of our Summer Beach Party Special next week.

I am so pleased with the number of people who enjoy the Rock & Roll News Podcast every week. You can download it at the iTunes Store by searching for Treasure Island Oldies Rock & Roll News Podcast. There are over 11,000 downloads every month! Thank you. You can also enjoy the Top 5 Countdown, but it is not available for download. However, you can listen to it at any time on the Listen page.

The Listener Gallery has is ready to hang your photos. Send in your picture, name, city and province or state to michael@treasureislandoldies.com and our webmaster, Eddy Fisher,  will post it on the Listener Gallery page.

I hope you have a great week and see you next Sunday for the live show.

Bye for now.
