This Week On Treasure Island Oldies

February 20th, 2011 to February 26th, 2011

What another great we've had on the "Island", with many friends in the Chat Room, as well as first time visitors too. The music was great, and thanks for your requests by the way, I always enjoy hearing from you. I'd also like to say that it was great to share my excitement about my son David being accepted at Ryerson University in Toronto for their two year Graduate Studies Program in Urban Planning. And once again, I'd like to thank his mom Nancy Strider for the great suggestion to play Let The River Run by Carly Simon; a fitting song for sure. A big thank you as well to Linda Guy in La Habra, California for her very nice message on my Facebook page for me and David. As well, California Barb called the 24/7 Listener Line at 206-339-0709 to extend her congratulations as well. Thanks very much, Barb. And my thanks as well to the Nuts in the Hut, the Chat Room Regulars who were sending their congrats and best wishes to David too. If there is a special occasion or event happening in your family that you would like to share, be sure to let me know. The email address is michael@treasureislandoldies.com.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to George Mooth in Edwardsburg, Michigan. All the best to you George. If you have a birthday coming up, I'd like to help celebrate your birthday with all the Treasure Island Oldies listeners. Send the details of your birthday to birthdays@treasureisdlandoldies.com. I'll then wish you Happy Birthday on the show and also play our official birthday song for you, Birthday by The Beatles.

There has been quite a bit of activity on my Facebook page and I'd like to say hi to Jimi Bertucci, whose band Abraham's Children had several hits in Canada in the 1970s. It was good to re-connect with you Jimi. You'll recall hearing Goodbye Farewell on the show a few weeks ago for our Made In Canada feature song.  Other folks becoming Facebook friends include Aubrey Winfield, Lawrence McDonald, John Kato, Nancy Turbull, Rob Christie, Terry Turner and many more. Follow me on Facebook and let's become friends too.

If you own a smartphone, this is for you. You  can now listen to the live show Sunday nights as well as the Treasure Island Oldies 24/7 Stream on your smartphone (Android, an iPhone or a Windows). WunderRadio is the app you need to buy; and reasonably priced at only $6.99. You can get the app at WunderRadio.com. Here's the link for the live stream: http://meta.insinc.com/treasure/treasure.asx. And this is the link for the 24/7 Stream: http://treasureislandoldies.com/ContinuousTIO_2.asx.

The Treasure Island Oldies Blog is playing the song we started off this week's show. It's The Kinks in a live performance from the TV show Shindig with All Day And All Of The Night. It's our Song of the Week. Enjoy!

Voice Your Choice turns to the 70s this week with Abba, the most successful "product" to ever come from Sweden. They sold millions of albums and have even inspired movies and plays. Would you like to hear Dancing Queen or Waterloo? Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page. We'll play the winning song in the 3rd hour of next week's show.

Let the world know you're a proud listener of Treasure Island Oldies. Send in your name, photo, city and province or state for the Listener Gallery to michael@treasureislandoldies.com and our Webmaster, Eddy Fisher, will post it on the Listener Gallery page along with the many already received.

You can also let all your friends know you enjoy the show with your personal Treasure Island Oldies Email Signature. A selection of complimentary signatures to be placed at the end of your outgoing emails is available for download. Click Goodies on the upper menu on any page on the website. Thanks to the many folks that have downloaded their own copy of the Email Signature. That's great!

I hope you have a great week and see you next Sunday for the live show.

Bye for now.

Michael
