This Week on Treasure Island Oldies - Week of March 16th, 2014

March 16th, 2014 to March 22nd, 2014

The playlist for this week’s show reads like a phone book of first names! It happens only once a year with the annual Name Game Special. If your name is Mary, Bobby, Rosie, Diane, Gina, Michelle, Jennifer, Bobby, Mickey, Reuben, etc., don’t miss out on hearing your song. Be sure to listen to the Archive and also check out the Playlist. My thanks to the many listeners who sent their email requests, phone requests on the Listener Line, and from the Nuts in the Hut in the Chat Room.

Our next monthly special will take place Sunday, April 6 when you’ll hear One Hit Wonders. These are songs by artists who had only one appearance on the Top 100 charts, and in many cases, made a big impact, but never to return again. You’ll be surprised by just how many big hits were by artists considered One Hit Wonders. If there’s a particular artist or group whose One Hit Wonder you’d like to hear, just let me know. You can Click the Requests button on any page of the website, send a note to me via michael@treasureislandoldies.com or you can call and record your request on the Treasure Island Oldies Listener Line at 206-339-0709. I’ll be waiting to hear from you.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to our weekly Rock & Roll Relic retriever, Rick Canode in Madison, Wisconsin, and to Joel Drucker in Randolph, New Jersey, as well as to Mike Cleaver in Vancouver, British Columbia. If you’ve got a birthday coming up soon, be sure to let me know. Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com and I’ll wish you Happy Birthday on the show and also play Birthday by The Beatles.

The Treasure Island Oldies Blog is keeping with the Name Game Special theme with Roy Orbison in a great concert performance of Leah from Festival Hall in Melbourne, Australia. It’s our Name Game Song of the Week. Enjoy!

Voice Your Choice presents the pride of Cincinnati, Ohio, Carl Dobkins Jr. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page foreither Lucky Devil or My Heart Is An Open Book. I’ll play the winner during the 3rd hour of next week’s show.

Here’s the Rock and Roll News for the week of March 16th.
