This Week on Treasure Island Oldies - Week of November 9th, 2014

November 9th, 2014 to November 15th, 2014

It was great to spend another 4 hours together listening to great music, as we do every week on Treasure Island Oldies. And next week be sure to listen for the Pop Goes The Country Special. The entire show will consist of country tunes that were so popular they crossed over onto the pop charts. You’ll hear from   artists such as Lynn Anderson, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Jimmy Dean, Mac Davis, and so many, many more. It all starts next Sunday, November 16th at 6 pm Pacific, 1 am Universal. I think this is only the 2nd time since I’ve been doing this show that this theme is returning as a special. See ya’ll next week on the Island as Pop Goes the Country!

I’d like to extend my best wishes and congratulations to my good friend Red Robinson who this week is celebrating his 60th Anniversary of being on the radio. This Rock & Roll Hall of Fame DJ has been recognized by many other organizations over the years including the Canadian Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Congratulations, Red, any many more years of gracing the airwaves with your personality.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Tim Sykes in Cambridge, Ontario and Chris Witmer in Iowa City, Iowa. If your birthday is coming up soon, let me know so that I can wish you all the best on the show and play Birthday by The Beatles for you. Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com.

The Treasure Island Oldies Blog is paying tribute to the late Mr. Acker Bilk with his signature song, Stranger On The Shore. It’d our Song of the Week. R.I.P.

Treasure Island Oldies presents Bobby Bare on Voice Your Choice. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Shame On Me or 500 Miles Away From Home, both great country crossover hits for our Pop Goes The Country Special next week. I’ll play the winner in the 3rd hour.

Here’s the Rock and Roll News for the week of November 9th.
