The Bachelors - Voice Your Choice

The British Music Invasion of the 1960s included singers and groups who were not only from England, but from all of the United Kingdom. A great example was The Bachelors, who were from Dublin, Ireland.

Brothers Declan and Conleth Cluskey, along with John Stokes formed in 1958 as The Harmony Chords, a barbershop trio.

As the British Music Invasion was full steam ahead, The Bachelors appeared on the scene, scoring a top ten hits for their debut single. They returned to the chart an additional 8 times from 1964 to 1967, recording cover version of songs that had been popular many years prior. A few examples would be Diane, a Number Two hit in 1928 for the Nat Shilkret Orchestra. I Believe was recorded by Frankie Laine in 1953, while Marie was a Number One hit for Tommy Dorsey in 1937.

Treasure Island Oldies is pleased to present The Bachelors in the Voice Your Choice spotlight. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Diane or Marie. I'll play the winner on next week's show.
